What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is a training regiment that focuses on strength-building and conditioning by putting you through challenging workouts that relate to one of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy.

Their official website claims that the program is used by police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, martial artists, and other elite and professional athletes.

Basically, each day you will test a different part of your functional strength or conditioning, not concentrating on any one thing, but rather to build a body that can handle anything and everything.

It is designed for scalability meaning the same workout can be performed by men and women, young and old. For example, if the workout says to do barbell squats with 25 kg but you can only lift up to 5kg, then that’s where you’ll start. If you’re injured and can't do that exercise at all, a similar movement will be substituted. If the number of reps is too many, that will be reduced.

As you get stronger and more experienced you’ll get to where you need to be.
